Shadrach is a friend of mine & was a musical collaborator with me during my college years. He dropped a compilation album titled Beautiful Connections back in November that LAHipHopCalender.com picked up and decided to sponsor. The work showcases a variety of collaborations with many Chico Ca. artists over Shadrach's beats...I definitely recommend copping this album and giving it a listen, and best of all ITS FREE!

After the 400+ mile move to the more-famed lower region of California, artist Brother Shadrach only made it a couple weeks before posting an ad on craigslist’s “Missed Connections” forum. The artists he encountered during his college years in Chico, CA, were arguably some of the best hip hop and R&B artists to have never been heard.
With the reminiscent spirit of Pete Rock and the heart of a sample-pushing Costco employee Brother Shadrach has set up shop again. This time taking the focus off of himself to showcase the artists he has collaborated with in the last four years. This free-online release includes cuts from local stars: Dusted Phoniks, Eye-Que, Alyriki, Tybox, Willdy Diamond, Lynguistix, and Dash (of P.AND.A.) Since most artists are current or former students of CSU Chico, their styles were influenced by all over the Golden State (from the Bay Area to Long Beach.) Artist Spotlight: FELT - A Tribute To Rosie Perez

For those of you have been sleepin the last 6+ yrs or so, FELT; a group consisting of MURS (Living Legends/Legendary Music/Def Jux) + SLUG (from Atmosphere/Rhymesayers) have been compiling dope records for a minute now. The first joint that The Grouch primarily produced if memory serves correctly is my all time favorite personally, but the second joint they dropped was really just as dope - just different flavors from the producer end. Well this 3rd time around MURS and SLUG teamed up with AESOP ROCK from Def Jux who is now the official producer of the 3rd studio album.

All I can say is I got good feelings about this album since I haven't heard any snippets yet. I'll guarantee its worth your lunch money tho so be warned its dropping soon!

((Finally got to hear this album and contrary to my expectations it sucked pretty bad IMO, Aesop is a really dope performer and a great MC but his production can go either way for me....Its either fitting and works well with the MC, or it almost feels like Im listening to a hybrid of hiphop & Techno/House which is not so fitting. This album could have been dope I think if Ant just stepped up to the plate one more time to make another sick album but no go....All good things must come to end as they say I suppose.))

Yall should already know by now but if you dont The People Under The Stairs have been dropping consistent gems in every release for a span of about 10 years I believe. I can vouch that literally every album these guys put out is dam near classic. Just good hiphop, good vibes, and dope ass beats n rhymes....Cant ask for much more personally.

Artist Spotlight: Q-Tip x Kamaal The Abstract

Just copped this album last week and Im personally very impressed by this offering....Tip decided to step outside the box with this joint which will most likely turn off a lot of hardcore more-rap-based fans, but I honestly think this album's genius. This is truly one of those albums where you can say the artist got it right by trying something new for a change and I think most avid music lovers will agree....Apparently this album was actually slated for release way back in 2001 but record label holdups got in the way and pushed the release waaaaay back to now!?....lol.....All I can say is cop this shit tho!!

Some really dope punch lines in there from Top. Medina had a few but just couldn't bring the same energy as Top.
Some fools were hatin on the fact that Top tends to yell when he spits/battles according to the YouTube comments....These are probably the same busters that already had biased opinions on who was dope simply by what clothes they wear. lol.
